College Graduates on the Catwalk

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Who knew that fashion could be so closely related to college admissions? Heidi Klum’s simple reminder each week, “You’re either in or you’re out” is a reminder that getting into college means that your app is either hot—or not.

On last night’s episode of Project Runway, the designers were asked to do complete makeovers for a handful of recent college graduates ready to enter the workforce. What resulted was an eclectic group of women on the runway, ready for interviews in, among others, graphic design, elementary education, and photography. Take a look at the winning designer’s garment.

Are you interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry? Why not take a look at these schools which offer programs that might be right up your alley.

Moore College of Art and Design
Pratt Institute
Rhode Island School of Design

And, of course, where Project Runway happens:
Parsons The New School for Design

You’re Either In or You’re Out!

I never thought I’d have the opportunity to blog about Project Runway on this website, but my chance arrives tonight on Bravo at 9pm EST. The remaining designers are challenged to create garments that will help college graduates make a splash at their new jobs.

I’ll recap the episode tomorrow, but I hope you’ll tune in to both PR tonight and this blog tomorrow.

Auf wiedersehen!
