Poor Columbia University Graduates

We’ve long been trained to think that the Ivy Leagues are the be all and end all of everything in higher education. So that’s why it’s a lot of fun to see when one of them tanks—even if only a little bit.

According to an article in the Columbia Spectator, the median starting salary of Columbia University grads is just $59,400, putting it in the bottom half of its competitors in the Ivy League.  Ten years after graduation, Columbia grads’ median salary of $107,000 is at the very bottom of the competition, far surpassed by leader Dartmouth College, whose grads are commanding $134,000. The data was compiled by Payscale.

Poor, poor Columbia alumni. Only 60K upon graduation and low six figures a decade later. It’ll be interesting to see how they continue to fare in this economy.
