So we added this new feature. It’s an organize your schools tool. And this is how it works.
First search for colleges using our college search page. Once you’ve signed up, you can save the colleges that you are into in your dashboard.
Then click on the ‘organize your saved schools’ button. You can lay out all your colleges of interest in one place, so you can compare and contrast key information with ease. You can see side by side, which degrees are offered at each school, what their top majors are, the SAT/ACT requirements at each college, whether the schools have early action and admissions, even the application fees, the availability of financial aid, and more.
So you can compare schools and see which one makes the most sense for you.
You can also organize your schools into safety, target and reach. Chances are you are going to apply to more than one schools. This feature lets you plot out your goals and let’s you visualize your plan.
Just drag and drop your saved colleges into the safety, target and reach bubbles.
But what do these terms mean exactly and how can they help you?
Safety schools: These schools are the no brainers. You know you’ll get. It’s best that you have at least a couple of safety schools on your application list to make sure you have somewhere to go. Probably worthwhile to think about these, because let’s face it, you may end up there.
Target schools: These schools are the ones that you’re really into attending and have about a 60-40 chance of getting into. These should be the bulk of schools that you apply to. Everyone likes a bit of a challenge right? Think about it, if you get into these, you will be super proud of yourself than just going the safe route. So this should be your fullest section.
Reach schools: These are your dreams schools. Let’s be honest, your chances of getting into these are slim. But hey, it’s good to think big and you should never cut yourself off from something just because you don’t think you’ll get in. In fact, applying to these schools can be a smart move because if you get in you can use them as a bargaining tool– as leverage for getting a larger financial aid package at another college. And you never know. You might just be able to live out your dreams.
This feature even include how your SAT scores match up to the requirements of the colleges all out in front of you.
So go ahead, try it out. And start to compare schools with organization and style.
