Dear Babs: Sororities

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Dear Babs,

My mother and grandmother talk so fondly of their days in the sorority house that I’m convinced I’d like to pledge one when I get to college next year. Can you give me some advice on which schools have the most active sororities on campus?

Signed,
Future Sorority Sister

Dear Future Sister,

You’ve come to the right place. As a proud member of Alpha Omicron Pi—yes, you are still a member of a sorority even after you graduate—I can tell you that sororities are a great way not only to make lasting friendships, but also to really get involved on campus.

According to US News and World Report, the following ten schools have the largest sorority populations; the percentage represents the number of females on campus that have pledged.

10.  Wofford College (60%)

9.  Tennessee State University (62%)

8.  Beacon College (62%)

7.  West Virginia University - Parkersburg (63%)

6.  DePauw University (70%)

5.  Ohio Valley University (70%)

4.  Washington and Lee University (76%)

3.  University of the South (88%)

2.  CUNY - City College (98%)

1. Clearwater Christian College (100%)

Have fun going to the rush parties next year!

Love, Babs
