Best College Majors
There are definitely trends in college education. That’s why we have a college trends section right?
Well, there are even trends in majors that students take.
So here’s a list of the most popular college majors.
With shows like the Sopranos and films like Analyze That, which romanticize psychoanalysis, the number of U.S. college students earning psychology degrees has jumped 22 %. And it is ranked as the second most popular major today.
Students often imagine that they will have rich clients dropping $100 for an hourly session. But in fact, few psychology majors actually move on to graduate schools and the career path for the rest of the group: not so rich. After your degree you’ll earn about $35,000 and after 10 to 20 years of experiences you’ll earn about $54,000.
So what’s the most lucrative college major today? Computer engineering. With less than 5 years experience, you’re already making $60,500 and after 10 to 20 years experience, it jumps up to $104,000 per year.
In fact, the four highest paid majors for people with less than five years experience were all engineering-based, with computer engineering leading the way.
So geeking it up, pays off. And didn’t you know, geek is the new cool—think about Seth Cohen, from the OC.
