Monday, October 6th, 2008

Thirteen years to the day that he was acquitted of murder, former Heisman trophy winner O.J. Simpson has been found guilty of numerous charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping.

Simpson’s latest legal troubles involved a 2007 incident involving sports memorabilia. The former USC running back was involved in a hotel confrontation in which he threatened memorabilia dealers at gunpoint; Simpson claimed he had only been trying to recover items that were stolen from him.

This trial did not garner nearly the same amount of media attention as Simpson’s murder trial, yet it ended in a vastly different way. Simpson is now faced with life imprisonment pending an appeal.

Ithaca College Goes to the Olympics

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

With the 2008 Beijing Olympics about to get underway this week, Ithaca College students are in on the action.

But not in the way that you think.

A group of students from the Park School of Communication will intern with NBC sports: 11 in China plus another 12 at NBC headquarters in New York City.

Another group of students from the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance will intern with the Olympic News Service in Beijing.

Students at Ithaca College might not be participating in the sports themselves, but they certainly aren’t sitting by the sidelines.
