Freshmen Heart Their Schools!

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Perhaps the best measure of how much students like their college is a fun figure known as the school’s freshmen retention rate.  Simply put, it represents what percentage of students enrolled at a given college for their freshman year returned for their sophomore year.

While students transfer for a wide variety of reasons, a high freshmen retention rate usually means that the school is doing something right. These ten schools must keep their freshmen really happy:

10.  Brown University (97.5%)
9.  Columbia University (97.8%)
8.  California Institute of Technology (97.8%)
7.  University of Notre Dame (97.8%)
6.  Stanford University (98%)
5.  Dartmouth College (98%)
4.  Princeton University (98%)
3.  Massachusetts Institute of Technology (98%)
2.  University of Pennsylvania (98%)
1.  Yale University (98.5%)
